Last month, we welcomed Lisa McBride, daughter of Pat and Margaret Ann Warlick, who worshipped with us and then spoke to us about Warlick's Warriors, a foundation established by her brother Peter, who has been diagnosed with ALS. In thanksgiving for Lisa's visit with us, the parish will be making a donation toAnswer ALS, a collaborative research effort to identify therapies that can halt ALS. If you would like to add your own contribution to ours, you can send your check to the parish office, made out toAnswer ALSwith "Warlick's Warriors" written in the subject line, and we will send all of our money and notes together to the family in one envelope. Alternatively, you can learn more or donate online at warlickswarriors.org. Please continue to pray for Peter and all those who love and care for this dear family.
Tend the Giving Garden
Volunteers can go at any time. You will find instructions for what to do in the shed. It's mostly weeding! On Wednesday and Friday we will pick the crops that are ready and deliver them to the food banks. Please come on over and help. Email Hilary if you need more information.
Beginning Sunday, June 25th there will be a Lemonade Hour, immediately following the 9:30 am service. Hosts are needed. It's easy; all you need to bring is a small treat as the lemonade is provided by the church. A sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board outside of Parish Hall. Weather permitting, Lemonade Hour will take place outside in the front courtyard.
Please consider joining this important ministry. Greeting people, distributing bulletins, conveying the sacred elements to the altar, and inviting parishioners to partake of Communion are central to our worship services. No experience needed. To sign-up or for more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 907-766-2282.
2017 Dates for Holy Baptism
We baptize primarily on those dates set aside for baptism, as listed in the Book of Common Prayer. Since the presence of the community of faith is essential for welcoming the newly baptized into the church, baptisms take place in the principal service on the appointed Sunday. The next dates for Baptism are:
•Sunday, November 5th at 10 am
Questions about baptism? Please contact Mo. Susan at email@example.com.
If you haven't already done so, please return your 2017 Pledge Card ASAP, as the Vestry needs them to make their budget decisions for the upcoming year. Extra pledge cards can be found on the web in the narthex or call the office 908-766-2282 to have one sent to you.
Altar Flower Request Sign up Available now
St. John on the Mountain continues the tradition of having fresh flowers on the altars. The arrangements enhance the sanctuary and are shared afterwards with the sick or divided to use again the following week in the chapel. Donations of flowers are made as memorials or in thanksgiving for special occasions. A date can be shared by more than one donor. The 2016 flower sign-up charts are now posted on the bulletin board in the hallway of the church building, opposite the entrance to the Chapel sacristy. For dedications and specific floral requests contact Sue Kennedy at firstname.lastname@example.org or the office 908-766-2282 email@example.com. Don't forget that you can donate your Stocks to SJOTM. The tax advantages of giving stock, instead of cash, to church can make doing so very worthwhile.
